Ohmygosh, do we have fun in this episode. Mostly, it’s John getting his licks at me, or is it the other way around? Needless to say, I texted him whilst listening to this episode that I was gonna ‘smack him on the next show.’ He just responded, “LOL, I’ve been forewarned.” Heh.
We seriously thought this episode was going to be a bust; but, listening in hindsight, it turned out pretty well.
We have Al Strauss to thank, for sure! Thank you, Al, for listening and adding your story to this episode. We welcome everyone to do the same; all it takes is a click on the ‘Send a Voicemail’ button on our website, right over there, and you can be considered, too!
Al, had an experiential marketing story to share, out of which John, the jazzer, made a show out of viral and word of mouth marketing — two marketing mutations that may or may not be resonating well in your business.
As a test, I invite each of you to join me on a viral marketing campaign to raise the riot act at John Gregory Olson himself. King of the flushing soundbite; I have to tee him up so he gets to use it, you know.
Is Viral Marketing For You?
There’s a mosh pit (yeah, apparently that dates me) of marketing mutations in the jargon-filled world in which we work and play. In this episode we address many of them; see if you can pick them out, and we wonder if you’re incorporating them into your daily marketing strategy?
If you’re trying to capitalize on viral marketing, perhaps you should just try good old word of mouth marketing. There is a ton of info at the Word of Mouth Marketing Association to glean.
This episode does have a common thread and it’s something we address on a regular basis. I truly don’t want to give it away, but…I feel I owe it to you — relationship. Marketing is truly about relationships and building that customer experience to win at better relationships.
Do you have a viral marketing or word of mouth marketing campaign success you can share with us? We’d be happy to consider your story for another, funny, feature on this topic!
