To my chagrin, he calls me on that all the time, and I, for one, must admit — he’s WRONG. Isn’t podcasting the medium of conversation? Isn’t it copacetic for me to share thoughts that do not conform to John’s outlines? YES! I agree.

Marketing Leadership Traits
We read a story about qualities you’d like to in a marketing leader. That’s why we elected to do our favorite volley to showcase traits of marketing leadership.
The lines are blurred so much these days that no one truly knows who they need on the marketing leadership team.
We begin with the usuals about strategy, planning, data, and analytics. Your marketing leadership must have these traits or others on the marketing team should have.
Since John is a goal-setting guy, he refers to quality aspects of marketing leadership. We discuss customer insights, too.
What I prefer to address, though, is the creativity associated with marketing. Is your team creative? Do you hire creativity elsewhere? (Let’s hope you don’t!)
Listen carefully at the end of this episode. I got to thinking about a perspective that wasn’t part of John’s outline.
How should the hiring manager ensure that the marketing leader has the traits they need?
I offer a few tips, and John weighs in, too. After all, no one will know whether the marketing leadership team works until they are brought on board, right?
