Do you think making the perfect pitch is attainable? After all, we’re talking about making the pitch, the ask, the sell, the cold call, and whatever else you’d like to say about some kind of sales. A pitch is like selling, and a perfect pitch is highly likely never ever going to happen.
Because a perfect pitch is the Holy Grail; it isn’t attainable because NO ONE is perfect, right? You might be happy with a decent pitch, but having a perfect pitch is probably not on the radar. But…let’s look at the path to the perfect pitch and see if this episode of The Heart of Marketing can help you get there, or halfway there!
The Perfect Pitch
Think about what it means to have a perfect pitch, or even just a plain old pitch. That’s selling. Everyone sells every day; from the elementary school kid selling magazines and sorority fundraising for a cause-related campaign to the employee wannabe trying to get a foot in the door.
When you approach someone to make a pitch, you need to really know what it is you’re asking for.
This episode should give you some tips on:
2. Research beforehand
3. How to write the pitch
4. Whether a deck is in order
5. Using email — how about the subject line?
6. Cold calling — what do you say first?
When trying for the perfect pitch, we can’t stress enough how important it is to be concise, simple, and appreciative. And, I would be totally remiss in not sharing that CUBS WIN WORLD SERIES!!!” There, that’s another pitch, isn’t it?
